My Device Will Not Power On!

ALL-IN-ONE computers are desktop computers except they use mobile computer technology in a desktop design.

What type of device are you using?

Things that will normally affect your device's overall functionality:

Has the device been charged?

Have you recently dropped your device?

Has the device been in contact with water?

Notebook Computers

Please charge your Notebook computer on mains power for 10 minutes before re-trying to power it on.

Please ensure the mains power is working

How-to: Check the power is actually working, try connecting a lamp or another appliance that requires power to the same mains power outlet or multi-powerboard as the computer and confirm it works normally.

Computer Accessory - Power Will Not Work

Unfortunately, computer accessories have few checks regarding power not working.

If you cannot get the accessory to power on after checking the power is working at the mains socket and the power cable is securely connected to the accessory you may need to check the device warranty period or do a quick google search for the specific accessory you are using. http://google.com

Mobile Devices - Things You Can Try

Do check your device's guide for troubleshooting power issues, alternatively visit the store you purchased it from for some advice.

Below is some quick options for resetting the power for your mobile device.

Android mobile devices

1. If the battery is removable, take it out for at least a few seconds.

2. Put the battery back in, put the cover on and turn your Android phone on.

Some Android devices will also allow these methods...

1. Hold the Sleep/Power button and hold the Volume-Up button at the same time.

2. Hold the Sleep/Power button and hold the Volume-Down button at the same time.

3. Hold the Sleep/Power button until your phone restarts.

This doesn't work with all Android phones however, some require a different combination of buttons to be held at the same time.

Apple mobile devices

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo. You can let go of both buttons after the Apple logo appears.

Windows mobile devices

Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10 to 15 seconds), then release the buttons.

Computer Power - No Lights Or Noise

So you have established all other devices work fine on the same mains power socket or multi-powerboard and the computer will not come back to life even after you have triple checked the power is connected correctly

Notebook Computers

These have external power supply units (often called power bricks) and either the power supply unit is faulty or the notebook computer itself is faulty.

Desktop Computers

ALL-IN-ONE computers are similar to notebook computers as they have also use external power supply units.

Traditional desktop computers have internal power supply units.

All computer power supplies should only be tested by your local computer workshop to verify if the power supply is at fault or if the actual computer itself is faulty.

Notebook Computer - No Display

So you have established all other devices work fine on the same mains power socket or multi-powerboard and the computer will not come back to life even after you have triple checked the power is connected correctly.

If you can see the power light is lit on and nothing is showing on the screen, check you have no secondary monitors connected and force a power-off by holding the computer's power button for 4 seconds until the power light is off

Retry powering on the computer after the forced power-off task and if the screen does not show any normal loading progress or desktop information then the computer will need to serviced.

If similar issues happen once a more than once a month the computer will need to be assessed as this can point to other issues if frequently occurring.
